Audi S6,S7, S8 and RS6 Spec Leaked, All to Get Twin-turbo V8

Audi’s new top athletes have been shrouded in a vail of mystery. It’s clear that there’s a new S1 coming with over 200 hp to rival the Clio RS and MINI JCW, the engine block that will deliver this level of performance is still unknown. However, there’s a whole batch of performance saloons coming from the Ingolstadt carmaker as well, and light has finally been shed upon the what was until now an amalgam of V8 and V10 rumors.

Reputable German publication Autobild has managed to find out what is under the bonnets of the S6, S7, S8 and the highly anticipated RS6. The fruits of Audi’s collaboration with Bentley have resulted in a brand new twin-turbocharged V8 engine that will find it’s way into all these cars in various stages of tune.

Audi will reportedly unveil the S8 first at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Spetember. The biggest saloon that the German carmaker makes will have 500 horsepower at its disposal, and while it will have 50 more horsepower than the old V10, fuel consumption and emissions will be substantially improved upon, by around 20 percent. As you might expect, it will be a true quattro four-wheel drive car, and power will be delivered trough an eight-speed automatic gearbox fitted as standard.

According to the aforementioned source, the S6 and S7 that we thought were as good as ready will not arrive in Frankfurt, instead making their debut at the LA Auto Show in November. Both will have the new eight-cylinder engine, pushing out 440 hp and 470 hp respectively. They should arrive on the global market in spring of next year, sporting price tags similar to the models they replace.

Last but not least is the only Audi in which you can put a big dog in the back than make it sick on an twisty alpine road. The RS6 will arrive next year, offering the highest stage of tune - a massive 580 horsepower. This will make it more powerful than the new BMW M5 that has just been revealed to offer 560 hp, though 20 hp won’t make much of a difference on the track... if you are into that sort of thing.
