Many big carmakers are skipping Frankfurt, but apparently, Audi has got a couple of debuts lined up for the event: the RS4 Avant and a lighter supercar called the R8 GT.
Are the RS4 fans going to be surprised by a Frankfurt debut? Not really, our spyshots show production colors have been sprayed onto the uber-Abant, and our insider information suggests early-2018 is marked as the start of production.

Beyond that, we were all pretty surprised to see the RS5 Coupe coming out before the RS4, even though the A4 pre-dated its two-door relative by quite a bit. Virtually no secrets are left for this model. It's going to be powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo powerhouse producing 450 horsepower and 443 pound-feet (600 Nm) of torque. The all-wheel-drive system will also have a mechanical rear differential and an 8-speed automatic taking care of the gears. We expect the official 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is going to be 4.1 seconds, so not that much faster than the RS3 Sportback.

But the big news inside this report by Automobile Magazine report is that the R8 GT is coming to the big European motor show. As all you German supercar fans know, the GT was a limited edition version of the previous generation R8, which had aero flicks, a big wing, and suspension revisions. They made 333 coupes followed by the same number of convertibles.

While there's no need for more power on this generation, we would still like to see an Audi equivalent of the Huracan Performante. Speaking of the Lamborghini sister car might be donating its LP580-2 powertrain, as the R8 GT is supposed to be RWD. Back in June, Audi Sport CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, hinted at the possibility of a RWD coupe and this appears to be it.

Lastly, the SQ2 is apparently also coming to Frankfurt. Although the performance SUV was seen around the Nurburgring once, we've haven't seen one in a really long time. But with the VW T-Roc coming out, the pressure is on Audi to come up with something better.
