The RS3 Sportback is already an impressive model that has gone way beyond its hatchback underpinnings in terms of acceleration and performance. The 2.5-liter monster under the bonnet will eat up all your petrol in one gulp and propel its owner toward the horizon at a similar pace to V8-powered cars.
Yet this hasn’t stopped many tuners and ECU gurus from trying to get more out of the famous five-cylinder engine. Seigen based German tuning company B&B Automobiltechnik has come up with a whole bunch of packages for the RS3 that can push your car over the 500 horsepower mark.
The four stages of engine tune start with the ‘basic’ electronic fettling that will set you back €1,950, but will ensure your Sportback kicks up the dust to the tune of 410 horsepower.
Next up is a stage 2 kit that costs €1,000 more and brings 15 more horsepower via optimized air cooling, increased boost pressure and new injection code fields.
Stage 3 is where things get a bit more extreme, as the package costs €7,950 and pulls the 2.5-liter RS3 to the 450 hp mark. This brings all the stuff you got with stage 2 plus a sport exhaust system and a special air cooling system.
We’ve saved the best for last: the final stage, which offers 510 horsepower, via a replacement turbine, racing exhaust, high pressure pump and tweaks the intake and engine management. This cost a whopping €15,950. Expensive? Not really, when you consider that B&B says the car will run to 100 Km/h in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 310 Km/h.
