Audi Roadside App Available in the US

Owners of both smartphones and Audi vehicles in the US will be able, starting the very near future to use their mobile devices in order to get roadside assistance in case they need it. The American division of Audi announced on Tuesday the introduction of an app for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry phones (for now, the app is compatible only with the Curve and the Bold devices), called Audi Roadside App.

The app, which will be made available on iTunes, BlackBerry App World and Android Market, will link the owners directly to Audi's roadside assistance partner in the US, Allstate. Using features that will allow it to access the vehicle’s basic information gives the owner of the car the possibility to tell Allstate the problem they're in and what type of help they need.

“With this technology, Audi is making a valuable service far easier for customers to access,” said David S. Tait, general manager, Service Operations at Audi of America. “Connecting Audi drivers to our Roadside Assistance Program, and its safety and service offerings is now literally at their fingertips.”

To be able to use the app, the owners of the phones/cars will have to register first. Once this little step has been taken, they get instant access to the services provided by Allstate (jump start, fuel delivery, tire change or tow), and even a dealer locator, in case the car is in need of some major surgery, that cannot be performed on the side of the road.
