As we reported earlier this month, Audi is planning to bring a topless version of the e-tron concept at the upcoming Paris Auto Show.
Now, the first sketches of the upcoming concept have been released, offering us a glimpse of the new concept. However, the images come from an unofficial source (they were published on the Caradisiac website) and are not accompanied by any piece of information regarding the car.
The e-tron Roadster concept seen here is based on the latest incarnation of the e-tron, the one that debuted at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
The Detroit concept uses two electric units that offer a combined output of 150 kW (204 hp) and features a lithium-ion battery pack. The car manages to reach 62 mph from standstill in 5.9 seconds and offers a top speed of 124 mph/ 200 km/h (this is electronically limited).
The concept’s full name is the R4 e-tron and the vehicle has hefty chances of entering production in the future. However, it is expected to lose its electric propulsion in the process, being offered as a combustion engine vehicle and slotted bellow the R8 model. The move is expected to come sometime in 2012.
This means that the R4 Roadster could also be included in Audi’s future line-up, becoming a baby-R8 Cabrio.
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
