About a week ago we were telling you about Audi testing a new, longer version of their R18 e-tron quattro hybrid race car ahead of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
With just a few days left until the vehicles debut at Spa, a video shot at Italy’s famed Autodromo di Monza circuit shows the long-tailed R18 flying at over 300 km/h (186 mph) during preliminary testing. According to Youtube user 19Bozzy92, who filmed and uploaded the video, Audi’s hypercar managed to achieve a top speed of up to 340 km/h (211 mph).
Be that as it may, the R18 e-tron quattro seems amazingly fast and seeing it making high-speed runs at Monza must be enthralling for any motorsport enthusiast.
As a reminder, Audi said this prototype will help the team analyze practical aspects of using a second body version at Le Mans by comparing both models on individual track sectors. The vehicle will debut at Spa this weekend with Marc Gene, Lucas di Grassi and Olivier Jarvis taking turns behind the steering wheel.
