The 2010 season will soon take off. The Germany finale will be held at the Frankfurt Golf Club from September 6 to 10, 2010, followed by the world finale a month later in Sardinia (October 8 to 12, 2010). The event is scheduled to take place at the Pevero Golf Club.
“Audi and international golf – this has been a perfect and successful combination for a long time,” Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales of AUDI AG, said in a release. “The quattro Cup is a particularly good example of this. I’d like to thank all Audi partners for their commitment and their organizational support and of course all the participants who have turned a small tournament into a worldwide success story marked by the Four Rings.”
As a short history, in 1991 the Cup started with 51 tournaments in Germany with more than 6000 participants registering to the tournament. A year later, the Audi quattro Cup became international: in addition to 70 tournaments in Germany, 62 competitions were held in seven other European countries.
The following year, the event saw the first world finale, which was hosted by Great Britain. In 2002, the record mark of 60,000 participants worldwide was surpassed for the first time. Finally, in each of the past six years the Cup attracted well over 75,000 golfers.
