Audi Gets Nasty With Car Carrier Ad Campaign

We know that Audi sales are doing well in the US, but Audi is showing a bit to much pride in their products in our opinion, but too much pride can be a bad thing sometimes. The new ads we are about to show you, are likely to generate similar responses from the German carmaker’s other rivals in the premium segment.

Under the name “Car Carrier”, Audi of America has released a pair of commercials, both featuring a BMW owner driving along on a highway. The man must be so bored withe his 3-Series sedan that he freaks out at the sight of a truck-full of new silver Audis.

He then jumps out through the sunroof and onto the car carrier and into the first model he can lay his hands on, only to discover that all the cars there already have an occupant, basically by people like himself that are desperate to get their hands on a new Audi.

The narrator’s voice explains the situation: “More people are leaving BMW, Mercedes and Lexus for Audi than ever before”.

Audi of America sales in April surpassed the previous record for the month, set just last year by 7.5 percent. Cumulated results for the first four months of 2011 add up to a sales increase of 15.6 percent to 35,401 vehicles. Last month’s figures not only marked the fourth-straight monthly record for 2011, but also the third time in company history where vehicles sales exceeded 10,000 units in a given month.

The strong showing on American shores is largely due to the continued strong public response to the 2011 Audi A8 flagship model, which set a sales increase of 519.8 percent increase in sales from a year earlier. Another big factor came from the recent introduction of the all-new 2012 Audi A7.
