The US has never really been treated to Audi’s excellent RS models, which were mainly sold in Europe, yet with the arrival of the RS5 Coupe and the TT-RS, that all changed. Now, Audi will be adding a third RS-branded model to its lineup - a roofless version of the RS5.
The news was confirmed by Audi’s President of US Operations, Scott Koegh, who stated: “That car is a no-brainer [. . .] We think our RS strategy fills the brand. We think adding this high-performance attribute is huge. TT RS is a classic example. The car sold out and rock-and-rolled extremely well.”

It is powered by the same 4.2-liter engine that powers the coupe, with the same 8,500 rpm redline and 450 hp. In cabriolet form, the RS5 is marginally slower than the coupe, hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds (0.4 seconds slower than the coupe), before topping out at 250 km/h (155 mph), or 278 km/h (174 mph) with the limiter removed.

In Europe, it will be priced at €88,500, which roughly equates to $111,400, when it goes on sale in Germany, next summer, so its US price tag should not differ too much from that number - it may be a bit lower, actually.
