It seems incredible at first, but Audi has been a presence on the UK market for only 21 years. This coming of age couldn’t be left out and the Germans decided to build a special model to celebrate the whole thing.
It’s dubbed the Audi A8 Edition 21 and only 121 of them will be made, all with the purpose of showing the UK customers a sign of appreciation. What’s even better about it is that both long and short wheelbase models will be available.
All cars will be fitted with a couple of special exterior and interior upgrades. It all starts with the SE trim level and up front you’ll notice the sport bumper that is joined by a similar one for the rear end.
The side sills are more pronounced while the trademark Audi Matrix LED headlights are included in the mix, as expected. The LED taillights and dynamic indicators are also part of the package.
As you might’ve noticed from the adjacent photos, there’s also a unique set of wheels attached, in 20” size with a double spoke design that have a titanium finish. Tinted windows and the Audi S8-only Daytona Grey pearl effect paint are offered on this rare A8 version as well.
Stepping inside will reveal the optional comfort sport seats with memory function, the black cloth headliner, three spoke multi-function steering wheel and illuminated door sill plates with the Edition 21 emblem.
Unfortunately, there’s only one engine choice available and that’s a 3-liter V6 TDI diesel. It’s not a bad choice either, making 262 HP and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque, it’s a more than potent unit. However, maybe a petrol alternative would’ve been better.
Even so, we have a hunch that this wasn’t a random choice. As far as we know, the 3-liter V6 TDI unit is the best selling one for the A8 in the UK and that’s probably why this engine was picked out of the whole range.
