Audi A8 Experience Launched in LA

German manufacturer Audi hasn't brought many novelties to the Los Angeles Auto Show, but what it lacks in terms of new models it makes up in technology. The carmaker has devised for its flagship A8 a new iPad app, which will give customers a taste of how the A8 feels in the virtual world.

Called A, the app is free for download from the known locations. Once downloaded, it will immerse the owner of the iPad into a virtual test drives world, in which all or some of the features of the A8 can be experienced.

The app allows customers to discover the secrets behind such technologies like LED technology, engine efficiency, Audi Quattro AWD technology, demos of Audi night vision assistant, the MMI touch pad and the 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

"Shopping for a car in today's tech-savvy environment should seamlessly integrate into the way buyers shop for luxury items. With the level of technology in an Audi, a traditional walk around or test drive could not fully demonstrate the extent of the vehicle's attributes."

"The A8 App showcases the technology under the skin – night vision assistant, the pioneering Audi Aluminum Space Frame, and more," said Audi of America Chief Marketing Officer Scott Keogh.

The launch of the app is part of the broader campaign which will accompany the launch of the A8 on the American market this month. The launch will also be supported with the introduction of the so called "product theater" in select Audi dealers.

The concept comprises an iPad, the A8 vehicle and a custom-built sample table containing a variety of leather, wood and paint samples available for order in the A8.
