Hello and welcome to globalization! A car developed in Germany on the MQB platform for the needs of the US and Chinese markets. It’s the A3 sedan, which has already been previewed as a concept before, and is now heading into production.
The big news this week is that the four-door compact sedan is indeed coming to US shores. We know that because the Audi USA made an official announcement on its Facebook page that the model "is confirmed for U.S. release late this year."
The A3 sedan will share its interior and engine lineup with the three-door model that’s already available in Europe. This means efficient new four-bangers, one of which is fitted with cylinder deactivation.
But the car we’re most excited about is the RS3. When the A3 was shown as a concept last year, it was powered by a 408 PS version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four found in the current RS3 Sportback. We’re hoping this will be made available for the US roster.
