When talking about Aston Martin, most of us car guys think of the lovely DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger. Don’t get me wrong here, but I find it half-assed to associate the pedigree-laden marque with Double-O-Seven. We’ve been doing it for some decades now and enough is enough.
I’ve grown tired of people talking about how an Aston Martin should be elegant, stately, maybe a bit underrated when compared to the bigger-pinion Ferrari and Lamborghini equivalents, but you know what? That’s BS and the best Aston money can buy nowadays is the manically flamboyant V12 Vantage S.

But if you prefer dominatrix-like leather straps instead of proper interior door handles, I would not condemn you of being an avid fan of the 50 Shades of Gray universe. I would clap because this baby right here - the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, is exactly what the British brands needs to spark the imagination of the public in a new, non-James Bond-ish way.

Insanity and performance are the road-going Vantage GT3’s specialities. Limited to only a hundred units, the most capable example of the breed yet boasts with an exterior inspired by the race-prepped Vantage, bridging that small gap between road-going and track-only. It’s an extreme machine this, with a ginormous carbon fiber rear wing, carbon ceramic brakes and a cool, aggressively styled vented bonnet.

Weighing just 1,565 kilos (3,450 lbs), the road-going Vantage GT3 special edition boasts with 600 PS (591 HP / 441 kW) and 625 Nm (460 lb-ft) of twist from its 6-liter V12 blunderbuss. Thanks to a seven-speed automated manual transmission and a limited-slip diff, this brawny yet light-footed Aston Martin can blitz from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 3.7 seconds and hold its own when the going gets twisty.

Now what about that Aston Martin Vulcan and its dog box transmission?
