Arnold's Latest Ride: a Not-so-Green Porsche

When someone spends more than $150,000 on a soft-top supercar, fuel economy and therefore CO2 emissions may not be on top of their priority list. Though California seems to be so thoughtful enough on the environment, its Governor, Arnold Schwarzengger, was recently spotted behind the wheel of a not-so-green Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, celebritycarsblog.com reported.

The 3.6-liter Turbo engine produces a maximum power of 480 hp and a top speed of 193 mph with a 0 to 100 km/h done in just 4 seconds. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet is capable of a combined average consumption of 21.9 mpg and with a 67-litre fuel tank, the car has a practical range of more than 300 miles between fills.

Carbon dioxide emissions of 309g/km for the manual gearbox version (328g/km for the auto) may not save you any money on road tax, but we must say it's kinder on the environment than most of its rivals.

Earlier this year, California Air Resources Board (CARB) adopted Governor Schwarzenegger's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) for the reduction of gas emissions by ten percent by 2020.

California will reach its most important goal by using low carbon fuels that allows a boost of innovative fuel production and give the alternative-fuel vehicles industry a chance for cutting its way through the shoppers' preferences.

According to CARB analysis, to produce the more than 1.5 billion gallons of biofuels needed, over 25 new biofuel facilities will have to be built and will create more than 3,000 new jobs, mostly in the state's rural areas. Production of fuels within the state will also keep the revenues local by reducing the need to purchase fuel from abroad.
