We speak of icons in showbiz, and we speak of Marilyn Monroe, Mariah Carey, and Madonna. You mention the word “icon” in Los Angeles, and you can only be referring to one bombshell woman: Angelyne.
Angelyne is an L.A. staple as much as the Hollywood sign is.

She’s been around for decades, first breaking onto the scene in the ‘80s, when her face and curvaceous body were plastered across dozens, and then hundreds, of billboards across the city. She is the original “famous for being famous” celebrity, way before the likes of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian turned it into a multi-million business.

Angelyne has dabbed into music, acting, and painting, but she’s most famous for being a model for the sake of modeling. She worked hard to build her brand and was able to keep her true identity a secret until 2017.

Part of Angelyne’s highly curated image is a pink Corvette. She’s owned one since her early fame days, and she reckons she had about 11 of them over the years, all bought from Community Chevrolet in Burbank, CA, and all painted a very special shade of pink she had designed for her use only, with a long-discontinued toner.

She believes pink is “the most powerful vibrating color in the universe” that naturally gravitates towards her.

Angelyne also claims she’s more famous than Barbie, who also happens to drive a Corvette every once in a while. “Barbie wants to be me” is just another of Angelyne’s many gems.

Barbie – or anyone else in the L.A. area and with $200K to spare – has a chance to be like Angelyne, because she’s selling one of her iconic ‘Vettes. It’s the 2008 Coupe that was featured in James Franco’s film The Disaster Artist (2017), which she tried to sell once before but never did because reserve was not met.

This time, she wants to unload it because she’s raising funds for her self-produced biopic, she tells one popular celebrity publication. There’s an Angelyne biographical series on Peacock, starring Emily Rossum as the busty blonde, but the OG Angelyne fell out with producers before it went on air. She wants to bring her own story to the screen, and the cash infusion would help her have complete creative control.

When the Coupe was offered for sale the first time years ago, it came with more than 190,000 miles (305,800 km) on the odo – because Angelyne maintains her brand by driving around Los Angeles. Seeing her in her pink ‘Vette is like seeing a unicorn, she once said in earnest. Still, it was in good condition, and had just received new tires and a new radiator.

No word yet on the current condition of the car, but it shows signs of having been maintained with care. Angelyne’s fans needn’t worry about her finances, despite the decision to part with her favorite ride. She has three more Corvettes in her driveway, and they’re the same shade of pink so you’ll know when the unicorn is approaching.
