If you're new to the Android Auto world and expect a flawless experience, chances are you'll be shocked. Things in the Android Auto ecosystem tend to break down for no reason, with awkward glitches appearing and going away for no reason.
Unfortunately for Skoda Enyaq buyers, the Android Auto bug they've been struggling with doesn't seem to disappear. And what's worse, the involved parties don't investigate the reported behavior yet.

Enyaq owners explain that Android Auto experiences a very slow screen response time, with the delay sometimes making it impossible to use touch for app interaction.

The screen feels sluggish in all apps like Google Maps, Waze, and Spotify. Reporting an incident in Waze, a process that typically requires a few taps, is a major pain in the neck, as the delay causes every screen painfully slow. Users end up accidentally pressing the wrong buttons, so using Android Auto eventually becomes a thing some Skoda owners might rather avoid.

The sluggish experience happens only on Android Auto, as the rest of the infotainment system works correctly. The behavior indicates one of two things: Android Auto doesn't feel at home, or the integration in Skoda cars is buggy.

In the first scenario, Google must ship an update to improve the user experience on Skoda's infotainment system, while in the second, the carmaker is responsible for fixing things.

The issue mainly affects the wireless version of Android Auto, and some users claim they've managed to fix it by switching to the wired mode. Others explain that Android Auto wired hits the same problems, so eventually, Google or Skoda must still address the issue.

The Android Auto version makes no difference in reliability, as old and new versions exhibit the same delay. Google has recently released the first Android Auto 10 beta build, but it's unclear if it improves Skoda cars. Using Android Auto while driving can become dangerous, as users can press the wrong options, eventually getting very distracted and looking at the screen for too long.

Oddly enough, most users struggling with Android Auto in the Enyaq explain that the delay is gone when switching to CarPlay. This makes the transition to Apple's phone mirroring system very intriguing, though doing this isn't convenient. Switching from Android Auto to CarPlay also involves changing phones – iPhones are expensive devices, so becoming an Apple user just for CarPlay isn't everybody's cup of tea.

Unfortunately, with no fix on the radar, Skoda Enyaq owners are all alone in their search for a refined Android Auto experience. Google and Skoda have remained tight-lipped on this problem, so waiting for a fix makes no sense now. Most generic workarounds, such as resetting the mobile device, clearing the cache, and deleting the app's data, produce no improvements.
