For the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Alpina has a world premiere to prepare, the launch of the highly anticipated D3 Bi-Turbo models. After another premiere for the German manufacturer in the shape of an SUV, the XD3 Bi-Turbo, a diesel alternative for the impressive B3 Bi-Turbo model was necessary.

Alpina just published a photo of the two new models on its Facebook page, announcing that they will both be present at Frankfurt next week. We said two models because the Germans figured that people will also want a Touring model next to the traditional Sedan.

As for technical data, the new cars will be powered by the same diesel engine found on the XD3, a 3-liter bi-turbo unit that develops 350 HP and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. With these new numbers, the D3 reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 278 km/h (173 mph).

The best thing about the new models is that they return a combined fuel consumption of 44.3 mpg (5.3 l/100 km) and come in both RWD and AWD choices along with an optional limited-slip differential.
