At the Geneva Auto Show, Alpina introduced their first SUV to the world, the so-called XD3 model, a car based on BMW's own X3. The Frankfurt Motor Show might be the place where we could see yet another new model from the German manufacturer.
According to Auto Zeitung, the company is set to unveil the new Alpina D3 Biturbo model in September, to offer a diesel alternative to the already highly-acclaimed Alpina B3 model.
The new car would have the same 3-liter powerhouse used on the XD3 model, fitted with 2 turbochargers, that delivers 350 HP and 700 Nm of torque. This would provide unparalleled levels of performance to the sedan.
At the moment, the car that the D3 will be based on, the 335d xDrive model is the fastest one in the BMW 3 Series line-up, doing 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, hooked up to the 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
