Alonso: I Am the Best I've Ever Been

Fernando Alonso insisted that he is at his best moment of his F1 career now that he'll be joining Ferrari for the upcoming 3 years. The Spaniard spent the last two years struggling in the middle of the F1 field and believes his experience has taught him a lot in terms of competitiveness inside the series.

Alonso replaced Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari and is waiting forward to debuting for the prancing horse in the Great Circle, as he will finally get the chance to fight for the world title after 2 years of absence.

I'm really looking forward to the start of next year. I'm joining the best team in the world, Ferrari, and I'm arriving at the best moment of my career. Right now I feel like I've never felt before. I think I'm at my best moment as a driver and as a person. hope that joining Ferrari means winning titles to share with Asturias and Spain,” said Alonso, according to autosport.com, during a Cajastur event in Asturias.

Last Friday, during a Christmas dinner at the Maranello headquarters, Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo insisted that Alonso is the right driver at the right time for his team, as his approach towards the engineering and mechanical part of F1 is far more valuable than his predecessor's, Kimi Raikkonen.

I think he is coming to Ferrari at just the right time in his career. We had already reached an agreement for 2011, when both our drivers’ contracts would have expired. Then, we realized that our team needed a driver capable of really getting involved with the engineers, a characteristic that was not part of Kimi’s genetic make-up, even though he is an amazingly talented guy,” said Di Montezemolo.
