Ferrari: Alonso Better for the Team Than Raikkonen!

After some unnamed sources from within the Scuderia, now the very Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali argued that Fernando Alonso is a better driver for his team than departed Kimi Raikkonen. Although the Finnish driver brought Ferrari its first and only drivers' title in the post-Schumacher era, he failed to develop a close and lengthly relationship with the Scuderia during his stay at Maranello.

In a recent report earlier this week, some sources from within the Scuderia staff argued that Alonso is already a more lovable character at Maranello as compared to Kimi, as the Spaniard made no less than 2 visits to the Ferrari headquarters before even becoming an official driver for the Italian company. Some even argued that they've seen more of Alonso in a few weeks than they did of Raikkonen in 3 years.

Building on that argument, Domenicali also suggested that, while in the same league from a driving standpoint, Alonso is perfect for Ferrari because of the involvement he brings in the preparations for the new season, as well as the feedback he receives from all the mechanics and engineers of the team.

Ferrari needs someone for the team similar to Schumi. In a car that is capable of winning, he (Raikkonen) was and is perfect. But if the car needs to be developed and the team fired up, Alonso is better,” said Domenicali, according to Germany's Auto Bild.

In addition, Domenicali insisted that Alonso's stay at Ferrari will be a successful one, despite the fact that the 2-time world champion will be lined up alongside another Latin and effervescent character, in the person of Felipe Massa.

I've spoken to Fernando about (what happened at) McLaren. He felt betrayed, and also (said) that his relationship with Lewis was not always correct. At Maranello that will not happen. I can guarantee that,” added Domenicali.
