Alonso Happy with Ferrari's Reliability

Although Ferrari did not continue their impressive pace in qualifying this week – after a smashing first test at Valencia – Spanish driver Fernando Alonso admitted his enthusiasm over the reliability of his new car. The Ferrari-an drove the F10 for no less than 129 laps on Thursday and was among the last drivers to leave the Spanish track – just after 6 PM – admitting his positive feelings over the 2010 challenger.

Alonso revealed that Ferrari did not focus necessarily on performance for the Jerez test, but rather on trying several setups and race configurations for the season to come. And the fact that everything went according to plan can only boost his hopes ahead of the new season.

We worked on different fronts, trying to understand how the car behaves under different conditions. It’s important to find the right compromise for the set up so that everything works well during the qualifying, when the tank is pretty much empty, and in the race, when we’ll start with a full load,” said Alonso.

We’re really satisfied with what we’ve done during these two days. We’ve driven many kilometres without any reliability problems, which is something that makes me really happy. We put many components under pressure over these five days and we didn’t have any problems at all. Furthermore the car is really easy to drive under all conditions,” added the Spaniard.

Alonso also warned that the tires will likely behave differently during the first few races of the 2010 season, being that the temperatures at the first 3 grands prix of the upcoming campaign will be higher than the ones encountered in Spain.

As far as the tires are concerned I think that the indications we’ve received these days have to be treated carefully, because the temperatures are very different from the ones we’ll have in Bahrain at the first race. Next week and even more when we’re in Barcelona, we’ll work on the performance,” said the 2-time world champion.
