Alonso Expects Perfect Ferrari Car in the Next Few Races

Despite the struggling weekend in Malaysia, Fernando Alonso feels confident that he and his team are on the right path for the championship this year. The Spaniard had to pay tribute to a poor decision from Ferrari in the Saturday qualifying and drove with a broken gearbox for the entire race, only to suffer an engine breakdown with 2 laps to go.

Nevertheless, the 2-time world champion insists that he didn't spend much time thinking of his unfortunate weekend at Sepang International Circuit, as he feels confident Ferrari will provide him with the best car in a few grands prix time. As only 3 races have passed in the championship, Alonso has no doubt that he will be there when the dices will be thrown for the F1 title, in the late stages of the season.

We are only in the third race so it's normal that the leader changes in the first races. You need a few races to settle down the championship,” said Alonso, according to planetf1.com. “At the moment it's open with many drivers around 30 points. But as I said, when the championship goes to the end I'm sure only two or three drivers will fight for it.”

We are not too worried at the moment. It's a very long championship and we are capable of improving the car a lot. We know in which areas we need to improve the car, so I'm more or less confident that we can have the best car in the next few races,” added the Spaniard.

Alonso's point-less finish in Malaysia – which he hailed as the best drive of his life – dropped him to 2nd in the overall classification, 2 point behind teammate Felipe Massa and level on points with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.

However, in all this time, the Ferrari-an experienced a single perfect race at the wheel of the F10 – in Bahrain – whereas on two other occasions he started from way back in the field – Australia and Malaysia.
