Hyundai has released the initial teaser images and video for the all-new i30, also sold as the Elantra GT in North America. The hatchback will be revealed on September 7th during the Paris Motor Show, so we don't have that long to wait.
The launch of a new i30 model comes hot on the heels of the all-new Elantra sedan and its hot Sport version. Well, it's not that hot, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

With the imminent launch of a new i30, we think that the N version isn't happening this generation (the outgoing one). But, considering a revised chassis is always useful in the development of a super-fast hatch, that's perhaps a good thing.

A statement from Peter Schreyer, who's both the design boss and the president of the brand, accompanied these images. It's full of marketing fluff, but the fact that it mentions the Cascading grille is cool.

Here it is: "It's a car for everybody - for the design of the new generation Hyundai i30, we didn’t just look at one customer, we focused on a wide range of different people. The design is an evolution of Hyundai Motor's design language with natural flowing lines, refined surfaces and a sculpted body to create a timeless appearance. With the new generation Hyundai i30, we are introducing our further developed grille: the Cascading grille."

And that's where things get interesting because everybody has an opinion about these teasers. Some people say it's like a bigger i20, others that it resembles the Genesis and even an Infiniti.

We also see a resemblance with the Tucson and the Kia Nero hybrid. Due to the shape of the grille, the i30 also has a little bit of Peugeot and Audi in it. But perhaps the oddest comparison is to the BMW X1. Just look at those flat, BMW-like taillights!
