Carscoop recently reported on a spotting of a heavily camouflaged Hyundai testing in the US. This is likely to be the brand new 2013 i30 five-door that was revealed in Frankfurt back in September.
The Elantra hatchback will sit in the range alongside its sedan compact brother and will likely replace the Touring version, since US consumers are likely to be more comfortable buying smaller cars than ever.
In Europe the i30 hatchback will be sold with two petrol engines, a 100 hp 1.4L and the 140 hp 1.6 GDI, plus two diesels. However, the US version is likely to stick to only offering the 1.6-liter GDI and the 1.8-liter four-pot offered as a base engine.

A three-door hatchback i30 will be revealed in 2012, and it’s likely to get a hot hatch version for the first time, powered by the new 204 hp 1.6-liter turbo. Rumor has it a hybrid version is also coming later next year.
