The first generation BMW 3 Series was so small and light that it could make do with a 1.6-liter engine with only 75 PS. It had two simple doors, a simple gear stick and a simple boot to put your stuff into.
But the 3 Series is now in its sixth incarnation, one which would surprise any owner that would make a jump in time from the 70s to 2013. That's because today, BMW introduced a third variant of the 3er after sedan and wagon. The model is called the 3 Series Gran Turismo, or GT for short, and its huge – 4,823mm in length (189.9 inches).
Following today's unveiling of this spacious new 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW has just released a couple of videos providing insight into this car, which will only arrive at your local BMW dealer this summer. The Gran Turismo is apparently quite well equipped, though this should not surprise us at all. There also seem to be plenty of customisation option, including frozen paint from BMW Individual, a choice of cosmetic packages and leather trim, not to mention a wide verity of engine choices.
Bit it's the small things that will convince most buyers to pick this unique new car over any of its rivals, stuff like frameless doors, illuminated door handles and a beautiful rear wing.
