While most manufacturers are downsizing their engine lineups, most eloquent among them is Volvo, which will be offering the all-new XC90 only with 2.0-liter and sub-2.0-liter engines. However, Fiat CEO, Sergio Marchionne, who recently spoke at an automotive-related event in Las Vegas mentioned the V6 they are developing in collaboration with Ferrari may power the 4C as well as the Giulia sedan.
The 3.2-liter unit may be the same one which will also power future Maserati models. According to autoedizione.com, the V6 engine may be used in both the 4C, which would predictably become the 6C, as well as the upcoming Giulia. This means that the latter would most certainly be a proper rear-driven saloon which would take the fight to BMW like no other manufacturer could.

The V6 engine will probably be offered both in turbocharged (as many as three), as well as in naturally-aspirated guises. Other reports suggest that the Giulia may use an all-new nine-speed automatic gearbox, yet this transmission is reportedly for front-wheel drive vehicles only.
