We don’t have a new car to show the world at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show? No biggie, we’ll just launch a special edition, said Alfa Romeo while creating the Giulietta Collezione, meant to refresh the compact five years after it made a debut on the same stage, during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
Since when are new versions meant to confirm a car’s role in any given segment? Since Alfa Romeo says so, of course. And for the record, it’s not just a regular role, we’re talking about a “lead role” here. Could be, but in a parallel universe.
Nevertheless, according to Alfa Romeo, the Giulietta Collezione is introduced as a top-of-the-range edition designed for the sophisticated clientele. That is, people who have a crush on discrete design tweaks applied on the outside and inside of the car and...nothing else, since the engine department will offer two diesel engines - 120 HP 1.6 liter and 150 or 175 HP 2.0-liter - and one 1.4-liter petrol unit with 120 or 170 HP.
That being said, let’s see what is different about the Alfa Giulietta Collezione. This shouldn’t take long, as the exterior is changed only by the black mirror caps and the 17-inch (optionally 18-inch) alloy wheels.Same ol’ story on the inside, where the Giulietta Collezione received black and grey leather seats, contrasting stitches and satin-chrome inserts applied on door panels, central tunnel and dashboard.
Technology-wise, Alfa is betting on a new Bluetooth Uconnect device, 5 or 6.5-inch touchscreen as well as dual-zone automatic temperature control. If you’re really really really interested in owning the Giulietta Collezione, make sure you check out the Alfa Romeo stand at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and be patient, as European sales are scheduled to start in April.
