Adriano Galiani Praises Briatore for Noble Gesture

Not everyone is blaming Flavio Briatore for his involvement in the famous race-fixing scandal in Formula One. There is at least one man who stands by the Renault manager in this entire affair, although his references are not very good. And some of you would agree that Adriano Galiani, the vice-president of AC Milan football club should be the last to speak about innocence in race or game fixing related situations.

Known to be a good friend of Briatore, Galiani was one of the key persons involved in the game-fixing scandal in Serie A a few years ago. AC Milan was the only team to have escaped only with a point-deduction penalty, while rivals Juventus were relegated in Italy's second division.

Galiani admitted having talked over the phone with Briatore, and insisted his friend did nothing wrong. In addition, he considers his gesture of quitting Renault for the good of the team a noble one.

I spoken with Briatore five minutes ago. I don't think he did anything (wrong) and that he has taken this decision in order to save the team and many jobs. He has done a noble gesture in order to save Renault from an avalanche of problems,” said Galiani in an interview with Italy's Sky Sport 24.

Talking about his decision to step down as Renault manager yesterday, Briatore admitted he did it to save his former team. Renault will be expected to plead for clemency for the September 21st hearing before the WMSC.

I was just trying to save the team. It's my duty. That's the reason I'm finished,” said Briatore for the Mirror.
