AAA Discounts Through Free iPhone App

Apple’s iPhone users are helped in finding discounts through the free GPS-based application, which displays retail locations of AAA Show Your Card & Save partners. It also displays key information including the name, address, phone, distance from location and a summary of the discount details.

"In the current economy, it's more important than ever to take advantage of discount offers wherever they occur," said Gail Acebes, Director, AAA Partnership Programs. "This free, new application is just one more way AAA is helping members save money."

iPhone users can filter listings by category and have one-click access to narrative directions. The AAA Discounts app works on the iPod Touch, as well as via WiFi access.

All users can view locations offering discounts, but only members can take advantage of savings and accessing RESPONSE-based roadside assistance. When members use the iPhone to place a call to the AAA, their GPS location is transmitted along with the call. Non-members can apply for membership via the AAA Discounts app.

However, this is not the only feature Apple is trying to set up when it comes to the automotive industry. As we've mentioned in previous articles, Apple is trying to develop a new car navigation system, that could tie into various forms of sensors and I/O devices such as a speaker and a microphone to facilitate voice-enabled functionalities, such as navigation, stereo, and phone functions.

A loud speaker could also be included to facilitate hands-free voice command functionalities, such as voice activated entry for requesting driving directions.

Meanwhile, first in a series of applications planned for iPhone, AAA Discounts can be obtained in two ways: via an iPhone by clicking the App Store icon and searching "AAA Discounts" or by downloading iTunes on your computer and searching "AAA Discounts" in the App Store.
