I was a hardcore vehicle doodler in my childhood, finding the opportunity to draw some screwed-up design anytime I was seeing a piece of paper and a pen laying around. Looking at my little “pieces of art” now seems like I was a little acid tripper back when I made them.
And that seems to happen to a bunch of children now, especially because their little minds are influenced by crazy TV cartoons nowadays, video games and Internet. Either that or schools are putting something special in the little ones lunch, which I totally want to try if it makes you come up with things like what you see in the picture above.

No, seriously now, it’s in children nature to come up with all sort of crazy concepts. It’s the age when your creativity is at its highest level just because you don’t think like a sane, rational adult.

As for example, Toyota’s Dream Car Art Contest winners have been announced and their drawings are perfectly illustrating what I was referring above. The nine 2014 US winners were selected by a national panel of judges who reviewed artwork by 31 finalists out of 300 entries. Among judges there was actor Cheech Marin, Motor Trend chief editor Edward Loh and TFS president CEO Mike Groff.

“If you take a look at the artwork these kids created, you see that not only have they designed a dream car, many have incorporated their dream car into an ideal future environment and society," said actor and art collector, Cheech Marin. "These are more than aspirational, they are inspirational. These are true pieces of art.”

The contest winners were classified in three categories, each holding three podium spots (gold, silver and bronze) as you can see bellow:

CATEGORY 1 (Under 8 Years)

Gold: Martian Toyota Truck by Enoch Christian Kim, age 7, Little Neck, NY
Silver: My Music Car by Leah Choi, age 7, Los Angeles, CA
Bronze: Inside Martian Toyota Truck by Enoch Christian Kim, age 7, Little Neck, NY

CATEGORY 2 (8-11 Years)

Gold: Helping Car by Sarah Kong, age 11, Los Angeles, CA
Silver: Future Car by Sally Qiu, age 11, Corona, CA
Bronze: Food Processor Car by Elliot Chang, age 9, Rancho Cucamonga, CA

CATEGORY 3 (12-15 Years)

Gold: Toyota Camera Car by Lauren Park, age 14, Irvine, CA
Silver: Child Rescue Mobile (CRM) by Tengku Shafikah, age 13, New York, NY
Bronze: Cable Wheel Automobile by Gene Whang, age 14, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

And yes, the photo you see above is the “Martian Toyota Truck” made by 7-years-old Christian Kim. See the winning projects in the gallery bellow while I go find out what kids eat in school these days. Unfortunately, the press release came only with photos of the first places in each category so click here for the rest of them.
