London has always been a city worth seeing and being driven around town in their british cabs is always a delight. Well, it seems that we’re in for a surprise as a taxi company has reveled its new fleet of battery-powered mini cabs.
Yes, it appears that from now an electric taxi fleet will be in competition with the all-time classic black cab. For starters, people will see 20 such vehicles but the number will be increasing to 50 by May and even more after that.

Concerning their functionality, the company explains that the taxi fleet will offer a range of 180 miles on a single charge and it will be backed up by a network of high-speed ‘superchargers’, that are being installed in partnership with British Gas.

The founder, Arvind Vif also explained that these particular cabs will run 24 hours per day, all week and four drivers will allocated to each car. Vif hopes these BYD E6 electric cabs will come to be success saying that the cost of using an E6 is “much lower” than the cost of a regular London black cab.

Since this isn’t a first try for electric cabs, the E6 already being launched in Hong Kong and the Netherlands, we believe that things could actually turn out good for London’s new electric taxi fleet.
