While the racing community might be crazy about the 2015 Corvette Z06 these days, the C6 ‘Vettes still have plenty of stories to tell. We’re not referring to the insane racecars that develop 2,000 hp or more here, but rather to the vehicles that can still be driven on the street without one’s knuckles going ultra-white.
The latest example of this comes from a pair of Corvettes that battle it out on an airfield, basically showcasing the highlights of the C6 generation.

In the black corner, we have a nitrous-fed Z06. When you happen to own a C6 Corvette Z06, one of the best things you can do to unleash the potential of that monster 7-liter LS7 under the hood is to go down the nitrous route.

The driver of this beast has done just that, claiming that the job has pushed his ride to 1,000 hp. Yes, we are a little suspicious too.

In the gray corner, sits a ZR1 ‘Vette, one that has also been touched by the engine tuning wand. As you can expect, the supercharger setup was fiddled with and the result, once again according to the owner, is an output of 780 hp.

The pair of C6s battled it out at the Arkansas County Airport, with the two pieces of General Motors metal going for a rolling race in order to avoid those driveline-stressing starts.

Before you point out the massive output difference between the two cars, you should know that, when it comes to such extreme tuning projects, the declared output should only rarely be trusted.

The race between the two is as American as possible and this is obviously highlighted with the help of the soundtrack. Fortunately, the footage also takes us inside the Z06, so the aural side of this Corvette competition is fully covered.
