Podium once more for the former airline pilot Peter de la Rey, as he won the Superbike Elimination drag race in South Africa for the second year in a row.
Peter de la Rey has made it past his closes rivals. Jerry Lombard and Bertus Breedt, both riding Suzuki machines. With this being also de la Rey's second year with BMW, the victory is even more resounding. Despite the racing rules allowing engine modifications, the BMW S1000RR Peter de la Rey rides is just a superstock bike.

"Just" meaning the power unit has no modding and runs with its standard almost 200 PS. However, the S1000RR got Brocks Performance suspension which allows for a very precise riding height. The rest is skillful riding from Peter de la Rey, especially as the bike is wheelie-happy when the throttle is abused.

The 2012 victory is the 31st national class title for the 57-year-old Peter de la Rey, who started racing back in 1975.
