The Bavarians have achieved new levels of automotive controversy with the release of the latest Neue Klasse concept car – the Vision Neue Klasse X is a dream about a future of even more SUVs, it seems. So, if you think that the design language of current BMWs like the X2, M2, M3, M4, iX, XM, or 7 Series plus X7 is too strong for you, there's a minimalist option – waiting for the series production of the Neue Klasse models.
However, it's easy to forget that the German automaker still has classic-looking models in its lineup. One of them is the popular BMW X5, the more practical and less expensive sibling of the X6 coupe SUV. Anyway, the X5 series of mid-size luxury crossovers has been around since 1999, and now BMW has been producing the G05 fourth generation since 2018 based on the Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform used on the then-current 7 Series (G11) and 5 Series (G30).
Times have changed quickly, of course, and BMW decided to perform the usual LCI – life cycle impulse, or facelift in plain speak – a year ago in March 2023. The refreshed SUV began production with a redesigned grille and front bumper, new headlights and taillights, fresh alloy wheels, and tech like the Highway Assistant driving aid from the newer 7 Series (G70). Even better, the 2024 X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid model got a thorough power upgrade to 483 hp, and its all-electric range surged to 40 miles (64 km).
But was that enough? Well, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators doesn't seem to think so. More precisely, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have a satellite venue dubbed AutoYa Interior, and that's where all the (CGI) BMW X5 action occurs with digital dreams of a second LCI based on the eighth generation BMW 5 Series (G60).
More precisely, the channel's pixel master has cooked the CGI looks of their unofficial vision with M goodies for the 2025 or 2026 BMW X5 and a bundle of ritzy color options. As always, the POVs abound – there's a classic front three-quarters look plus a quick survey of the interior changes with lots of CGI shades, plus a comparison of the current 2024 X5 and the hypothetical one.
Of course, it remains to be seen if BMW wants to go through a second refresh (LCI) with the popular model and give it additional upgrades to keep the traditional fans happy with the more conventional design. Or, maybe it will just present an all-new generation soon – remember how the F15 third generation was only allowed on the market for just six years? So, what do you think, and which is your favorite (unofficial) BMW X5 color?
