Much of Toyota's current off-road-oriented North American lineup is owed to the third-gen XK70 Tundra full-size pickup truck. So, it would be wise to keep its customers happy, right?
The third iteration, a model going head-to-head with the legendary American foes (Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra, Ram Trucks) and the Nissan Titan, was introduced back in autumn 2021 on the body-on-frame TNGA-F platform, and production started before the end of that year at the company's plant in San Antonio, Texas.

Offered with two powertrain options, the 3.4-liter V35A-FTS twin-turbocharged V6 engine making up to 389 hp in pure Ice form or 437 hp when hybridized as the i-Force Max, this Tundra generation exerted major influence on all subsequent off-road-oriented models like the Sequoia, N400 Tacoma (remember the recent V6 swap for the X-Runner concept at the 2023 SEMA Show?), or the Lexus GX 550 and Toyota Land Cruiser siblings (Prado or 250 in certain regions).

Now, the Tundra is coming to a tight spot – it's still too early to consider a significant mid-cycle refresh, but the 2024 Ford F-150 and 2025 Ram 1500 series just got their respective overhauls. So, perhaps it's time for a new model variant for the upcoming 2025 Tundra. Currently, the 2024MY kicks off at less than $40k, and you can select between SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone grades.

As you can see, the Japanese automaker covers most angles – the workhorse area, the off-road specialist, and even the premium full-size pickup truck ethos. So, how about a streetwise build? Well, that's not available in the real world, so the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is much obliged to provide one. As such, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of revealing a Tundra GR Sport.

Coming out as the exact opposite of the dune-bashing and rock-crawling TRD Pro, this hypothetical Tundra GR Sport adopts some fancy Gazoo Racing attire on the outside and probably comes with modified suspension and steering components to make it nimbler during fast turns. However, while the aesthetic changes do make the Tundra look sportier, we are not so sure the mighty full-size pickup truck needs GR Corolla's quirky three-exhaust arrangement.

However, if you think about it, fitting all GR models with this kind of exhaust setup would make Toyota's models relatively easy to stand out in any performance crowd. Now, all the company needs to do is give us the GR Yaris facelift with it, the GR86 and GR Supra, and perhaps even a GR Prius if we're on the subject of dreaming about Gazoo Racing's next performance test subject. So, what do you think – cool or not?
