Just recently, the American carmakers have presented their full sales tally for 2023, and of course, truck makers came out happier than ever before – especially Ford, GM, and Ram.
Of course, some were merrier than others. The Ford Motor Company, for example, not only still holds the crown for the best-selling truck nameplate in America for 47 years in a row, but they also just gained the NACTOY truck accolade for their all-new fifth generation of the F-Series Super Duty.

Meanwhile, General Motors also crowned itself as the absolute ruler of the American pickup truck market by sheer number of produced trucks – they joined the sales of the Chevy Silverado and HD with the deliveries of the GMC Sierra and HD to come out on top of their Detroit rivals from the Blue Oval side of the full-size pickup truck equation.

What about Ram, one might ask? Well, the Stellantis offshoot is currently third in the nameplate rankings behind the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado if we count both the current Ram 1500 and HD as well as the old-school Ram 1500 Classic. Naturally, Ram hopes it will fare even better once they start bringing to market the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 lineup, which now consists of trucks that don't have a V8 engine under the hood.

More precisely, the base offering is the V6 eTorque mild hybrid followed by two instances of the Hurricane 3.0-liter inline-six turbo – standard output with 420 hp and H/O with 540 ponies. Then there are also the electrified options – the first-ever Ramcharger with a range extender and the zero-emissions 1500 REV. Pretty cool, right?

Well, the company probably hopes they will also boost the sales with a refresh of the heavy-duty lineup. If not in the real world, then at least across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. For example, the good folks from the TheAutoReport channel on YouTube have imagined the potential refresh applied to the Ram HD - but we believe they got the MY wrong. Instead of 2024 or 2025MY, it's best to assume that a redesign might come for the HDs in 2026, most likely.

Until that happens, the resident pixel master has asked the novel AI software to envision the potential looks of the big heavy-duty truck – and the choice is quite entertaining, with two versions of the Ram 2500 looking like they belong in the virtual realm for work or leisure adventures. Of course, do take all of this with a healthy dose of salt, as nothing is official yet. However, when Ram changes the HDs, we expect another sad moment for powertrain enthusiasts – or maybe Stellantis will allow them to keep using the Cummins  6.7L inline-six turbodiesel for a little while longer…
