In China, where the great Auto China 2024 or 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition is still in full swing until May 4 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, China, everyone wanted a piece of the red carpet's spotlight.
Including Cadillac, which officially launched the 2025 Optiq as Lyriq's little brother, complete with a 33-inch curved display and two powertrains. The base model has an electric motor mounted on the front axle, good for 241 hp and 243 pound-feet (330 Newton-meters) of torque, and a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 68.4 kWh that is good for up to 333 miles (536 miles) on a single charge (CLTC).
That's probably the lowest all-electric Cadillac that will become available in America, too. It's also going to be the cheapest, for sure. At the other end of the spectrum, after seemingly going through the 2024 Lyriq, as well as the upcoming 2026 Vistiq three-row CUV and the mighty Escalade IQ with up to 750 horsepower, there's also the incoming $340k Cadillac Celestiq.
That's a five-door liftback acting as the company's full-size luxury car flagship at the tall end of the EV spectrum. It comes with the GM BEV3 platform, Ultium technology, two electric motors for electric all-wheel drive capabilities, and an estimated combined output of 600 hp plus 640 lb-ft (870 Nm) of torque for an effortless sprint to 60 mph (96 kph) in 3.8 seconds. The battery also has a very high capacity – 111 kWh- and recharging can be done at up to 200 kW.
Well, in a world where Cadillac tries to sell a $350k liftback EV, who says there isn't enough space for additional land yachts – at least across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm, and he perpetually envisions loads of luxury models for the Cadillac and Lincoln brands.
He works with just about anything, even station wagons – but his passion is clearly targeted at land yachts. As such, he again envisions the rebirth of the iconic Cadillac Eldorado nameplate, this time around with the Biarritz title attached to its two-door, two-seat Convertible EV illustration. The pixel master truly believes that with Cadillac's current state of EV mind, there's a place for an all-new 2025 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz in the IQ lineup alongside the Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ, and Celestiq.
So, what do you think? Should Cadillac dig into its glorious past and revive the Eldorado name – first as an all-out land yacht coupe featuring the same ultra-luxury credentials as the Celestiq and then also as an ultimate Eldorado Biarritz Convertible IQ that currently feels ready for a hot summer in the CGI expert's wishful thinking design project?
