2024 Toyota Prius PHEV Touching Down in the UK in Early March, Here's How Much It Costs

We've known for a while that Toyota is bringing the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) to the United Kingdom, and now we also know when it will go on sale and how much it will cost.
According to the company's British arm, the order books will open on March 4, and those who place a reservation will take delivery of their rides in July. The lineup will comprise two versions called the Design and Excel, with on-the-road pricing starting at £37,315 (equaling $47,040) and £39,955 ($50,370), respectively.

Even the base flavor of the car is nicely equipped. It comes with 17-inch alloys, benefits from smart entry, rear privacy windows, parking sensors, dual-zone air conditioning with nanoe-X air quality system, Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system with cloud-based and embedded navigation, and the Toyota Safety Sense bundle of safety gear.

Those who opt for the upper flavor of the 2024 Toyota Prius PHEV, namely the Excel, will get additional features. This model rides on 19-inch wheels, gets an electric tailgate, a digital rearview mirror, heated and ventilated front seats with memory setting and eight-way power adjustment, and a few other bits and bobs that justify the premium compared to the entry-level grade.

Power is supplied by a 2.0-liter electrified mill that pushes out a combined 223 ps (220 hp/164 kW). That is way more than its predecessor, which used to enjoy 122 ps (121 hp/90 kW). With the 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack fully charged, the new Prius PHEV offers up to 53.4 miles (86 km) of driving in the all-quiet mode. Toyota quotes the carbon dioxide emissions at 12 g/km and states it needs 6.7 seconds to 62 mph (100 kph).

Christened the Prius Prime in our market, the plug-in hybrid model comes with an identical powertrain and the same 13.6 kWh battery pack. It is a front-wheel drive vehicle with a CVT (continuously variable transmission), benefits from a multi-link rear suspension and independent MacPherson strut front suspension with stabilizer bars, and has 12-inch (305 mm) front and 11-inch (279 mm) rear brake discs.

Toyota sells it in three trim levels. The most affordable one is the SE, which comes from $32,975. The XSE mid-range version follows it, carrying an MSRP of $36,225. The XSE Premium top-of-the-line version completes the lineup and starts at $39,670. The EPA-estimated driving range is 44 miles (71 km) in the most affordable variant and 39 miles (63 km) in the other two.

The 2024 Toyota Prius, aka the hybrid model, benefits from 194 hp (197 ps/145 kW) combined and starts at $27,950 for the base LE, $31,395 for the XLE, and $34,965 for the Limited, which is the most expensive and best-equipped version of the series.
