Closely related to the slightly more practical GLC, the GLC Coupe was redesigned from the ground up for the 2024 model year. Scheduled to arrive in dealer showrooms late this fall, the C254 comes with hybridized four-cylinder turbo muscle only.
At first, Mercedes-Benz USA will offer the 300 4MATIC rather than the no-nonsense 63 series from AMG. Retailing at $57,000 from the outset, the GLC Coupe features a sport-tuned suspension, a 360-degree camera system, large driver and infotainment displays, Mercedes-Benz Navigation, and a wireless phone charging pad as standard.

The sporty suspension is rather curious given that Merc has built its reputation by means of superlative comfort, quality, and engineering. Unfortunately for Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts, both the quality and engineering leave much to be desired since the 1990s due to aggressive cost-cutting measures.

Turning our attention back to the GLC Coupe, standard highlights further include a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats. In regard to options, the list kicks off with the AMG Line. Sportier wheels and exterior styling cues, perforated brake rotors, and body-color wheel arches pretty much sum up what you’re getting for a meager $2,850.

Next up, the Pinnacle Trim costs $2,950 and enhances the GLC Coupe with the likes of Augmented Video for Navigation, heat- and noise-insulating glass, a head-up display, DIGITAL LIGHT with Projections, and Burmester 3D Surround Sound audio. The Night Package further beautifies the rear-biased crossover with black-accented wheels from AMG (either 19s or 20s) and high-gloss black elements for the exterior. Think beltline and window trim, rear diffuser, and so on.

The final option worthy of taking into consideration while configuring the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe is the Driver Assistance Package. Priced at nearly two grand, this package adds PRE-SAFE Brake with Pedestrian Recognition, Active Lane Change Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop & Go Assist, the Driver Assistance Package Plus, Route-Based Speed Adaptation, and all that jazz.

What is especially odd about said package is that the 2024 Toyota Prius features a Pre-Collision System w/ Pedestrian Detection completely as standard. Not a good look on the German automaker’s part, isn’t it? But then again, Mercedes has a thing for charging extra for the stuff that mass-market manufacturers (such as Toyota) include as standard.

Boasting a 12.3-inch driver’s display and an 11.9-inch touchscreen for the MBUX infotainment system, the GLC Coupe uses a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four lump with 48-volt assistance. Rated at 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet (400 Nm) of twist, said powertrain is connected to a nine-speed auto.

Zero to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) is dealt with in a little over six seconds. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the combined fuel economy rating for the GLC Coupe is 26 miles per gallon (make that 9 liters per 100 kilometers). The GLC with 4MATIC is good for 27 (8.7), whereas the rear-drive GLC offers 29 (8.1).
