First announced in February 2023, it only took the Japanese automaker half a year to kick off production of the highly anticipated 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander at its factory in Indiana, and now it can be had from around $43k.
Following the same logic, its 2024 Lexus TX sibling, announced in early June, might kick off production sometime in December at TMMI (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana) in Princeton, Indiana. So, we're in for the long wait if anyone wants the upcoming full-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating crafted by the luxury division of Toyota, Lexus.

Based on the Toyota Grand Highlander, it is now the biggest SUV in the Lexus family, as it's about 10 inches (25 cm) longer than the mid-size siblings GX and RX. Produced on the unibody TNGA-K alongside a multitude of Toyota and Lexus models, the TX crossover SUV will be sold and made exclusively in North America, just like its Grand Highlander cousin.

Coming to replace the three-row RX-L from the previous generation, the 2024 Lexus TX will remain the company's sole three-row crossover, as opposed to the larger LX 600, the equivalent mid-range RX and GX, or the smaller UX, NX, and RZ models. And when it hits the market, it will have three powertrain options, just like the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.

However, the latter goes to market with a 266-hp turbo 2.4-liter, a 247-hp hybrid model, plus the 362-hp Hybrid Max, whereas the 2024 Lexus TX offers just a little more oomph. So, the TX 350 will have the same 2.4-liter turbo four-pot but with 275 hp. The TX 500h F Sport Performance already has 366 electrified horsepower, while the flagship TX 550h+ is a plug-in hybrid with 406 ponies and an electric range of 33 miles (53 km). That's cool, right?

Well, what if that is not enough? No worries, if we have to wait and see what happens in the real world, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is much faster. As such, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have imagined the CGI looks of the potentially upcoming 'Black Edition' Lexus TX for those who think the market launch should be accompanied by something that can stand out in any crowd.

According to the host, maybe not everyone likes the design of the 2024 Lexus TX because it doesn't feature a more aggressive styling compared to the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander. But perhaps the 'Black Edition' could help a little with getting a darker, more menacing three-row family SUV. By the way, the resident pixel master imagined it as an add-on package, so it's not necessarily usable solely with the Shadow Black exterior color – instead, the TX gets most ornaments dressed in black to make it a tad more serious, along with dark alloy wheels.
