This August is hotter than a far-away desert as far as the automotive field is concerned. The Monterey Car Week kicks off on August 11, and before its massive string of novelties, we already got a trio of superstar introductions.
Going back chronologically, Hyundai finally presented the 2024 Santa Fe details for the North American market after, in July, it only featured a design preview. Two powertrains are available for the region, a 2.5-liter turbo with 277 hp and a smaller 1.6T with hybrid assistance and 178 hp – plus an adventurous XRT Concept to accompany the ritzier trims such as the Calligraphy grade.

Cadillac took over Time Square in New York City instead of Santa Fe, New Mexico, to present the behemoth Escalade IQ, the first-ever all-electric model of the iconic full-size SUV series. It's rocking lots of Ultium technology, up to 750 hp, an estimated 450-mile range, and a potential asking price of no less than $130k. Cool, right?

Anyway, many people still need help getting over the early August worldwide introduction by Toyota of its 2024 Land Cruiser (Prado or 250 across various regions). It's the light-duty series coming back to America, and it borrows the 326-hp hybrid i-Force Max inline-four turbo mill from the all-new N400 Tacoma, plus TNGA-F underpinnings to make it a sibling of the 2024 Lexus GX 550.

Plus, the company envisioned two different personalities for America – the base mid-$50k Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser First Edition sport classic round LED headlights while the regular Land Cruiser is squared-off like a tribute to the big J80 Land Cruisers of the 1990s. So, no wonder that even the imaginative realm of digital car content creators cannot get over it too fast.

And there's no need to take our word for granted as we have a few eloquent examples. For starters, the pixel master tucked behind the X-Tomi Design account on Facebook thought that the boxy 2024 Land Cruiser would look utterly fabulous as a shorter three-door model. Well, it would surely make both the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco tremble, right?

Even Stellantis designers took note of that, and Mo Ismail, once a freelance CGI expert – now a creative designer for Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram Trucks – quickly imagined the classic, round-headlight look of the 2024 Land Cruiser would be perfect for a potential FJ Cruiser derivative. All in all, these are really not bad ideas, and with a slightly raised ride height – like in these CGIs – they would make perfect adventure trail companions!

However, other virtual authors don't want us to neglect the 2024 Land Cruiser's value for hauling and towing stuff. As such, Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist known as KDesign AG on social media, has decided to have a CGI go at imagining an unlikely 2024 Land Cruiser pickup truck that could go toe-to-toe with the Jeep Gladiator, for example.

We have seen other hypothetical depictions of the Toyota SUV rocking the two- or four-door pickup truck format – but this one feels a lot truer to no-frills Land Cruiser cab chassis origins with its simply-cut cabin design, ample use of black plastic protections, and the straightforward bed walls. Plus, it also looks ready for any off-road adventure, given the meaty wheel and tire package, right? So, which one is your favorite?
