The enduro motorcycle scene is a very competitive one, and that makes having a single company name dominate the segment even more extraordinary. And that company name is, how else, KTM, a moniker which has been at the top of enduro competitions for the past three decades, with some 126 titles to its name.
At the end of May, the Austrian company announced it would continue to target the top of the pack with the 2024 range of EXC models. Unlike what we got with other KTM bikes these past few months, the changes are extensive compared to the previous generation – the new two-wheelers come with 95 percent new components.

Just like before, the EXC range was to be offered as both two- and four-stroke engined motorcycles, with the two lineups comprising the 150 EXC, 250 EXC, 300 EXC and 250 EXC-F, 350 EXC-F, 450 EXC-F, 500 EXC-F, respectively.

At the end of last week, in "celebration of the most challenging hard enduro races on Earth," the bike maker let loose another member of the family, the 2024 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro.

To become the flagship of the range, the bike for the masses is based on the one that won the 2022 Hard Enduro World Championship title at the hands of German rider Manuel Lettenbichler.

The bike is, naturally, based on the two-stroke 300 EXC, but comes with several unique features and appointments to make it truly special, but also safe to ride in demanding conditions.

The Hardenduro is built around a new frame, painted for this application in the KTM orange we all know and love, and rides on a closed-cartridge suspension system. The connection to the ground is made through black wheels wrapped in Metzeler 6 Days Extreme tires

Up on the frame, a 9-liter (2.4-gallon) fuel tank sits. The riders lower and lift their behinds, depending on terrain, from a ribbed factory seat, and are protected from potential harm by means of closed hand guards, clutch slave cylinder protection, composite skid plate, and a braking system specifically engineered for the ride.

The paint scheme on the 2024 300 EXC Hardenduro is not at all different than what KTM has gotten us used to over the years, a play between white, orange and black that makes the Austrian bikes such instantly-recognizable vistas on the world's most demanding circuits. For this particular model, a "loud, proud graphics kit" has been included.

The bike maker said at the end of last week the new 2024 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro will become available at dealers the world over starting next month. Pricing for the new model was not announced, and it will obviously vary depending on where the motorcycle is sold.
