Similar to the mid-size Hyundai Sonata, the compact-sized Elantra has also received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year. From the standpoint of exterior styling, the shark-like front end helps the newcomer stand out from its pre-facelift siblings. The redesigned H-motif rear end still features a full-width light bar.
Going on sale this fall, the 2024 Elantra for the US market features thinner headlights connected by a slim piece of trim. Beautified with a stainless-steel emblem, the front end further boasts a body-color element between the upper and lower grilles. New alloy wheel designs ranging between 15 and 18 inches also need to be noted, along with a rear diffuser with silver trim.
As far as the color palette is concerned, paint choices now include Amazon Gray, Exotic Green, Ultimate Red, and Ecotronic Gray. Rear side airbags and a rear seatbelt reminder are standard across the board. Also standard is haptic feedback from the steering wheel for driving assistants like Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and Lane Keep Assist.
The company worked its magic inside as well. The Elantra gained the curved panel of the Sonata, incorporating the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Basic trims feature a revised 4.2-inch display for the instrument cluster. From the SEL upward, the touchscreen has a 10.25-inch diagonal.
Interior changes also include soft-touch door panels up front, H-Tex leather upholstery for the Limited, new color choices, a redesigned wireless charging pad for your mobile device, an extra USB-C outlet for the front occupants, and two extra USB-C outlets out back.

Eight-speaker Bose Premium Audio is standard in the Limited and N-Line, whereas lesser trims get six no-name speakers. The Limited further entices prospective customers with loads of standard technologies, including Parking Distance Warning – Forward & Reverse, Blind Spot View Monitor, and Surround View Monitor. Digital Key 2 allows the driver to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle with iOS and Android devices.
Technology enhancements conclude with the Bluelink+ Connected Car suite of connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Moving on to the N, the sportiest Elantra of them all continues to rely on a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder lump. Output figures aren't currently available, and Hyundai didn't publish the numbers for the lesser mills either. Lower down the spectrum, the Elantra soldiers on with a selection of four-cylinder engines ranging from a naturally-aspirated 2.0 to a 1.6-liter turbo and a naturally-aspirated 1.6 hybrid.
Turning our attention back to the N, the go-faster trim rolls on 19-inch forged alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rubber. Sport bucket seats with illuminated N logos are featured as well. From a technical standpoint, Hyundai optimized the front axle load increase by changing the tire pressure from 35 and 33 psi to 36 and 34 psi. The engine mount membrane was reinforced for improved agility, whereas the G bushing was reinforced for improved yaw response and steering precision.
Hyundai also mentions hardware upgrades for the electronically controlled suspension (to enhance body control), optimized software for the power steering system, a redesigned steering gear box yoke (for more precise steering), and reduced friction for the steering column's U-joint. Not bad for a facelift, isn't it?
