The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is now available to configure stateside. Before going into the build & price shenanigans, let us take a quick look at the order guide for the 2024 model year, beginning with exterior paints.
Page 182 of the order guide lists two colors (Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Slate Gray Metallic) as being new. They're joined by Red Hot, Glacier Blue Metallic, Summit White, Dark Ash Metallic, Black, Iridescent Pearl Tincoat, Sterling Gray Metallic, Radiant Red Tintcoat, and Harvest Bronze Metallic. Lakeshore Blue Metallic will become available later in the model year on two grades: Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss.

For some reason or another, Chevrolet rechristened the 2.7-liter turbo inline-four gasser as TurboMax. It's a rather in-your-face name for the base engine, but then again, it also happens to be powerful and torquey for its displacement and number of cylinders. Codenamed L3B, this fellow cranks out 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet (583 Nm) of twist in the Silverado 1500.

The order guide says that L3B-equipped vehicles come with an eight-speed automatic, namely the MFC that Chevrolet also uses in the Colorado midsize pickup. Speaking of which, the L3B is known as the Turbo Plus and Turbo High Output in the redesigned Colorado.

Black power-retractable assist steps for the Midnight Edition also need to be mentioned, along with a drop-in bedliner that bears LPO code VZX. Moving on, prospective customers of the 6.2-liter small block will be happy to learn that Chevrolet now includes the NPP active exhaust system as standard with the L87 lump.

The order guide attached below further surprises with the LZ0 inline-six turbo diesel, a Duramax-branded unit with 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet (671 Nm) of torque to its name. Rather than the aforementioned numbers, what comes as a surprise is the LZ0's availability in the ZR2 off-road trim level, which previously came exclusively with the L87 small block.

Both the crew and double cab now come with a rear seatbelt indicator as standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus OnStar, are standard on the WT, as is adaptive cruise control on the High Country.

The Blackout Appearance Package can be optioned on the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2 trim levels, while the Safety Package and WT Safety Package now include Front and Rear Park Assist. On that note, Chevy's online configurator is going to scare a few prospective customers with the $38,695 starting price of the Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD.

That's a heck of a lot of moolah for a work-oriented truck. A more expensive work truck than both the F-150 XL and 1500 Tradesman, that is. The longer bed is $200 more at $38,895, whereas the Double Cab Standard Bed kicks off at $41,995. Opting for the short bed hikes up the sticker price to $44,395, whereas the Crew Cab Standard Bed is the most expensive configuration available at press time, starting at $44,695.
