Redesigned for the 2023 model year on the 992 platform, the GT3 RS isn’t for the faint of heart. Just like the more docile GT3, the most extreme road-going Porsche in production as of October 2023 is capable of hitting 9,000 revolutions per minute.
Punchier than its non-RS brother, the GT3 RS has been recently tested by Dutch outlet AutoTopNL on a derestricted stretch of the Autobahn in Germany. Not surprising anyone, the man behind the wheel used every single pony at its disposal to reach 301 kilometers per hour (187 miles per hour) on the clock or 290 kph (180 mph) as per the Dragy app.

From a dig, the driver hits 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) in a stupendous 3.4 seconds, meaning 3.2 from zero to 60 miles per hour. The quarter mile is dealt with in 11.23 seconds, and the pull from 100 to 200 kilometers per hour takes a scant 8.34 seconds. The standing mile is over in just under 30 seconds in the low downforce setting.

Indeed, the GT3 RS features a drag reduction system for going as fast as technically possible whenever you fancy (and the law allows for such incredible speeds). Porsche quotes 296 kilometers per hour (184 miles per hour) at full chatter. By comparison, the GT3 with the manual transmission and Touring package tops 320 kph (199 mph).

Exclusively PDK, the GT3 RS isn’t exactly affordable. Back home in Germany, the corner-carving brute carries a sticker price of 248,157 euros (or 262,825 dollars at current exchange rates). Pricier still in the Netherlands (€350,900 or $371,640), the naturally-aspirated sports car stickers at $241,300 in the United States of America.

You can easily drop $50,000 extra on top of the manufacturer's suggested retail price on go-faster options and visual goodies. Think $20,960 for an Exclusive Manufaktur Paint to Sample exterior paint color, $43,390 for an Exclusive Manufaktur Paint to Sample Plus exterior paint color, and $33,520 for the Weissach Package. Of course, you also have to consider the huge dealer markups.

A popular online marketplace lists five 2023 and 2024 models nationwide, with the most affordable of the bunch advertised at $459,900 with 152 miles (245 kilometers) to its name. Absolutely insane, but alas, these dealers are aware that it’s a rare breed.

Porsche switched from a naturally-aspirated boxer to a twin-turbo boxer for the second phase of the 991 generation, leaving the GT3 and GT3 RS as the only free-breathing models in the lineup. The 992 is also up for a mid-cycle refresh, a facelift that’s going to introduce hybrid assistance to certain variants.

The GT3 and GT3 RS are likely to keep their 4.0-liter engines unchanged for the 2025 model year, albeit with a little more power and torque. The Turbo S, on the other hand, is expected to cross the 700-hp mark with the help of an electric motor.
