2020 Toyota Supra Gets Rotary Engine, Looks Like a Drift Car

Rotary-powered A90 Supra render 1 photo

Now, before purists get angry.... ah, who am I kidding? Those who identify themselves with the said status are already upset about the styling of the 2020 Toyota Supra. Nevertheless, allow me to mention that the contraption we have here is not real, since we're dealing with a rendering.
However, this pixel effort takes the A90 Supra pretty far from its factory state. That's because the Mk V has lost its BMW heart in favor of a rotary engine.

The Wankel motor can clearly be seen, thanks to a hood removal job. Then again, that wasn't really necessary, since this kind of engine can be heard from a mile away, especially in the tuned form we have here (ready for the brap-brap soundtrack?).

The powerplant isn't the only mod on the machine, with the newfound aero of the Japanese machine talking about the motorsport realm. Then we have the wheels, which come with a bit of a retro vide.

Jonsibal is the digital artist behind this render and the aficioando knows a thing or two about the tuner car culture. It's not just that he renders such aftermarket goodies on a regular basis (here's another example of his work), but the gear head happens to drive an air-cooled Porsche 911 gifted with a Rauh-Welt Begriff kit.

Since we're talking extreme engine swaps for the new Toyota Supra, I'll remind you that Japane has already seen multiple units of the sportscars receiving a 2JZ heart transplant.

The velocity toys are used in the pro drifting world, with Daigo Saito's Supra being an example as good as any.

And while the 2JZ unit means the Mk V is better connected to its family tree, the reliability and tuning-friendly nature that earned the motor its reputations means the drivers can keep sliding for as long as they want (as long as the typical racecar issues are solved).
