Before the AMG GT R came out, people were calling its larva prototype "Black Series." But this time... this time the name might finally stick.
For some motive, Mercedes-AMG bosses are reluctant to use the Black Series name, even though the C63 and SLS models that used it were icons of the performance world. Even before that, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series and SL 65 Black Series established Mercedes as the German brand with the most insane cars. These are cars that are remembered forever.

The Black Series adventure is a combination of having the ultimate AMG model and feeling like you're not fully in control when behind the wheel. It's not necessarily about the output, as the old SLS Black had less torque, but that was in the naturally aspirated 6.3-liter era.

As you may have remarked, this prototype was spied testing at the legendary Nurburgring track and on the neighboring roads. It looks like it's based on the GT R Pro model, which has been tailored for track use.

The supposed Black Series model sports some aggressive elements, such as big wings on the front bumper, a chin splitter with four adjustment struts and a wing big enough for a race car. From some angles, you can see most of the front end is vented. You've got heat extractors and shark gills over the wheels and massive vents drawing the heat away from its overworked V8.

The stern shows a reworked version of the GT R bumper with the middle-mounted exhaust deleted in favor of four Lexus-like stacked exhaust pipes. We believe the power will be dialed up to at least the same level as in the E63 sports sedan: 612 horsepower. Of course, Mercedes can go even higher, especially since this should be the last special edition of the GT.
