These days, it's impossible to surf the web without coming across life hacks, even if you're simply checking out a race between an Audi R8 and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
"How do these velocity beasts qualify as life hacks?" one might ask. We'll start with the R8 and one of the main questions revolving around the German supercar: is this a better way to get your hands on the V10 package that's also found inside Lamborghini models?

With the first-generation R8 and its Gallardo sibling, the Raging Bull always had the edge. However, the race that brought us here features a second-gen R8, namely the V10 Plus model, which features the same 602 hp output as the Lamborghini Huracan. And while the Sant'Agata Bolognese styling and badge can't be matched by the R8, it's difficult to remember that time in 2016 when the German beat the Italian in a Top Gear drag race.

As for the pony, Ford Performance threw a dual-clutch into the mix of the S550-generation GT500, thus allowing the 760 hp muscle car, which had already received an independent rear suspension for this generation, to run with supercars, at least in a straight line.

Well, the speeding confrontation we have here pits these two automotive life hacks against each other, with the sheer idea of such a race being spectacular. Nevertheless, we have to remind you that such street fights shouldn't be used as an example, with the drag strip providing a safe environment for speeding brawls.

Now, said transmission asset puts the GT500 on the same level with its mid-engined opponent, but will the meatier output of the first be enough to overcome the massive weight advantage of the latter? After all, the R8 V10 Plus is around 750 lbs (340 kg) lighter than the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500.

As for the aural part of the battle, the comparison isn't entirely fair since the Mustang is stock, while the R8 features a Fabspeed exhaust. Even so, you can skip to the 0:47 point of the clip, where the action starts, and be the judge of this.
