It's safe to say that the 2020 Corvette has broken the Internet, at least as far as the automotive side of the world wide web is concerned. However, with customer deliveries still not here, we're all left waiting for the real-world arrival of the mid-engined 'Vette. Or are we?
Fortunately, there are plenty of manufaturer vehicles that get driven out in the wild these days. This has led to tons of sightings, with the whole shenanigan being focused on color or the soundtrack of the new LT2 V8 so far. However, we are now here for a totally different affair, one that sees the C8 Chevrolet Corvette going for that infamous 0-60 mph run (with the Z51 package, the machine can cover the task in less than three seconds, remember?).
To be more precise, a Rapid Blue incarnation of the Chevy halo car was spotted taking off from a traffic light in what can be described as a hell of a rush.
Judging by the soundtrack of the adventure, the driver had engaged Launch Control - the Corvette was filmed from a truck, so the vantage point delivers a brilliant perspective.
As the lights show the go color, the aficionoado linking the steering wheel to the pedal goes all out. And since this isn't the prepped surface of a drag strip, wheelspin is unsurprisingly present, even though you'll have to rely mostly on your ears to notice it.
Speaking of the Internet, gear heads keep talking about the $100,000 mid-engined Corvette on social media. So, what's that all about? Well, apparently, the 495 hp of the stock car doesn't mean that much for these hooners, which is why the plan is to throw a twin-turbo or a supercharger in there and end up with an 1,000 hp C8 Corvette for the said price.
P.S.: Note that the running towards the horizon takes place at the 4:03 point of the clip below.
