2020 Audi R8 V10 Performance Drag Races VW Golf Sleeper, Heavy Trampling Occurs

An untrained eye might look at the old Volkswagen Golf we have here and wonder why this Mk II seems to be... the other way around. Well, while we're all used to cars who come with beefier hips, this Vee-Dub comes with wider front paws. Then again, it's all justified, since the thing has quite a lot of power to put down.

You see, this Golf has left its factory state long behind. As such, the engine compartment of the contraption is now occupied by an 1.8-liter turbocharged unit that places no less than 730 ponies at the mercy of the driver's right foot.

So, what do you do with such a machine? You leave its look stock, so you can achieve a sleeper effect, of course. Oh, and there's a second step - take the thing to a drag racing event.

And this is precisely what took place last weekend, when this Volkswagen was unleashed during the a sprinting event that involved a standing start and a one-kilometer run.

Among others, the driver of the Mk II has a fetish for showing fast Audis who's boss. And boy oh boy did the gear head get to do his thing.

In fact, if you head over to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, which documents the shenanigan, you'll see the VW Golf duking it out with no less than three Ingolstadt machines.

The hostilities kick off at the 1:28 point, where you'll see the Volkswagen drag racing an Audi RS7. Then there's the battle that made it to the headline (yes, it's a Spyder), which can be found at the 2:08 point. Last, but certainly not least, you'll see the Golf II fighting a modded Audi RS3 at the 3:19 point of the clip.

Note that the video showcases the maximum velocity reached by each car, so you'll easily be able to tell who the winner is.
